General & Rental Questions
Do I have to sign a long-term contract?
No. We offer flexible options to suit different requirements. We understand that life changes, so we don’t lock you into long-term commitments. You store for as long—or as little—as you need.
How much does a storage unit cost at McGill Mini Storage?
Prices vary depending on the size of the unit and whether you choose a heated or standard option. We pride ourselves on offering competitive, transparent rates with no hidden fees. Please contact us for a free quote tailored to your specific needs.
Do I need insurance for my stored items?
Yes. You are responsible for the goods you store. We recommend checking with your current home or tenant insurance provider, as they often cover items in self-storage. If not, we can recommend affordable third-party options.
Security & Access
Is the facility secure?
Absolutely. We take security seriously, using a multi-layered approach:
– On-Site Resident Manager: A real person lives on the property for unmatched vigilance.
– 24/7 Video Surveillance: Cameras monitor the facility around the clock.
– Gated Access: Entry is restricted to tenants with a valid gate code.
When can I access my unit?
Our gate access hours are Monday to Friday from 6:00 am to 9:00 pm, and Weekends from 7:00 am to 9:00 pm. This allows you plenty of time to visit your unit before or after work while ensuring the facility remains secure overnight.
Unit & Vehicle Specifics
Do I need a heated storage unit?
If you are storing items sensitive to temperature fluctuations—such as electronics, antique wood furniture, musical instruments, or important documents—we highly recommend a heated unit. Kamloops winters can be harsh, and climate control protects your valuables from freezing, warping, or cracking.
Can I store my RV, boat, or car?
Yes! We have a dedicated section for RV and boat storage. Unlike many other lots that are gravel or dirt, our facility features clean, paved roads and parking spots. This keeps your vehicle cleaner and prevents it from sinking into the mud during the spring thaw.
What fits in a 5×5 unit vs. a 10×10 unit?
– 5×5 Unit: Comparable to a large closet. Perfect for boxes, seasonal tires, or holiday decorations.
– 10×10 Unit: Comparable to half a standard garage. Can typically hold the contents of a one-bedroom apartment, including appliances and furniture.
